The launching of the NorthMin Dive Festival opened the first leg of the celebration which is the Misamis Oriental Dive Festival which will run from July to October 2022. The second leg of the festival will happen in Camiguin this September. Some of the events to look forward in the NorthMin Dive Festival are the Underwater Photography Contest, the Scubasurero Underwater and Coastal Cleanup drive, and the Dive Awareness Seminar.

The underwater photography contest is a three-day event in September which will be opened to all dive photographers from all over the country. “This is the first time this has happened in Misamis Oriental and Northern Mindanao. This will be bringing dive tourists from all over the Philippines because this can attract our well-known photographers to visit our dive sites,” she added.

Also joining the program were Executive Director of Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving (PCSSD) Mr. Marco Angelo Ancheta, world-renowned dive photographer Ram Yoro, marine biologist Fra-And Quimpo, and dive master Dodong Uy of Mantangale Alibuag Dive Resort.

Director Unchuan stressed that DOT would never cease in promoting Misamis Oriental and Camiguin’s dive riches and dive potential. She also hopes that this initiative can inspire other provinces in the region to explore and develop their own dive sites.
