DOT Usec. Abubakar, Mindanao RDs conduct Green Adventure Loop
Validation Tour in Misamis Oriental, Camiguin

The validation tour aimed to assess Region 10 tourism destinations under the Green Adventure Loop featuring nature-based tourism sites. Some of the key destinations that were visited were the Oolong Tea Plantation in Gingoog City; the Misamis Oriental Tourism Complex and Botanical Garden along Route 955; Don Narciso Café, View Deck, and Daru Restaurant in Claveria; the DOST-Philippine Textile Research Institute in Villanueva; the Immaculate Conception Parish Church in Jasaan; Haseyle Hill in Sugbongcogon; Mantangale Alibuag Dive Resort Inc. in Balingoan; and Mantigue Island in Camiguin.

The destinations were evaluated for their tourism readiness such as LGU support, accessibility, safety and security, stakeholders’ support, organization, and compliance to the health and safety protocols of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF). The validation tour is essential for the formation of tour circuits within Northern Mindanao, and in conjunction to other tour circuits that are being developed for the Colors of Mindanao program of DOT.

Colors of Mindanao aims to formulate inter-regional tourism routes in Mindanao with the intention of validating and preparing destinations and routes for tourists.

“We are just honored that Usec. Abubakar and the Mindanao RDs and their staff have toured our proposed farm and dive circuits. This is the first time in history that all Mindanao RDs have toured and validated circuits together. This is all for the success of Colors of Mindanao,” Director Unchuan said.
